Teen Fashion Show Program

Advanced Teen Couture Fashion Show Prep

Building Confidence and Sense of Accomplishment through Design, Making complete head-to-toe runway looks, and professional Runway exposure!

Teen Fashion Show Preparation is a complete course in fashion from design concept to runway. It’s a perfect program for first time or continuing students of art, fashion, and sewing. ACA faculty active in the industry work one-on-one with students to advance design skills and elevate design aesthetics.

The program focuses on four key elements in getting a collection ready for the runway:

Fashion Design

How do you sketch fashion figures? How do you illustrate couture textiles and silhouettes? What does it mean to develop cohesive collections? How do you collaborate with a design team to create your own look to a collective theme?

Learn how to sketch, render luxury fabrics, understand the line and balance of luxury fashion, illustrate couture (from haute couture magazines) and own luxury ready-to-wear designs, and develop cohesive collections for a complete industry familiar portfolio.

Pattern Design

How do you draft couture clothing patterns? What is the couture measuring technique?  How are luxury garments finished compared to ready-to-wear?

Learn how to take sophisticated, detailed measurements the couture way, draft basic and build to stylize own creative pattern blocks to your body, gain confidence on an industry sewing machine, develop couture hand sewing methods and luxury construction finishing, build your own creative garment for the industry runway to your perfect fit, learn the secrets behind couture no fit pattern making, create your own perfect fit couture garment that you can cherish forever.

Textile Design

How can you make fabrics stand out from the other store bought designs?

Learn how to hand sew couture embellishments to create your own textiles, make elegant fashion components, develop techniques to express yourself artistically on clothing.

Runway Modeling

What is the couture model walk? How do you pose to show the clothing and communicate style? What is the timing?

Learn how to model walk the couture way, develop timing and confidence, stylize your pose to accentuate your design, discover the camera pose and how to walk for film, learn the red carpet pose, get your name and design out to fashion press, learn how the runway transforms designs and how to work with the theatrics of the fashion show, hang out with professional models and experience the fast-paced behind the scenes world to professional fashion show production.

What happens on The Big Runway Day?

French couture made-to-measure is a technique explored primarily in Academy of Couture Art degree programs. Where most fashion programs explore sizing such as 8 and 10, the Teen Couture Design Club gives participants the advantage by accessing the sophisticated French method of drafting the garment pattern from scratch to shape the unique individual body.
